In music, rhythm is one of the most important aspects: listeners can forgive occasional melodic or harmonic failures, but if a music piece hasn't a clear, definite rhythm, the public would protest immediately. Thus, a metronome is an essential tool for practicing and acquiring rhythm skills. Guitar-Online Tools has issued a small but useful metronome that can help users to hone their rhythmic abilities.
The program has a very simple interface resembling a digital metronome. You can set the time measure you want to use, choosing among the most common (3/4, 4/4 and so on), and other, more rarely used but still interesting measures (like 3/8 and 6/8, and odd-meters like 7/8, 13/4 and so on). Also, it is possible to set the tempo in beats per minute. You can choose between 40 and 340 BPM. The program has an useful fine-tuning function which allows you to choose a broad tempo (say, 240 BPM) using the corresponding knob, and then fine-tune it to the exact amount of BPM you want (say, 243) thus saving your time and making easier to choose the right tempo.
The shareware version has many limitations, since it only lets you use the 5/4 measure and works for only 30 minutes daily. Nevertheless, it can give you an idea of the features of the program.
